Speaker – Prof Benjamin Akande

Professor Akande, a remarkable story teller in his own right shares how storytelling can be used as an effective leadership tool to influence, inspire, and to achieve maximum desired impact.

Prof Akande is Senior Vice President, Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer, Stifel Financial, a wealth management and investment banking firm. He is the former President of Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, Assistant Vice Chancellor of International Programs-Africa, Director of the African Initiative, Associate Director of the Global Health Center at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, and Professor of Economic and Dean of the George Herbert Walker School of Business and Technology, Webster University, Webster Groves, Missouri.

Prof Akande, Nigerian born U.S. citizen, is a respected economist, scholar, and global consultant to Fortune 500 companies. A results-oriented leader, Prof Akande is admired for his ability to connect with diverse constituencies at all levels within public, private and nonprofit sectors. An engaging and compelling communicator, Prof Akande is regularly sought out as a commentator by national media. He has appeared on Anderson Cooper 360, CBS Evening News, and St. Louis affiliates FOX, CBS, ABC, and NBC.

Prof Akande holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Oklahoma and completed post-doctoral studies at JFK School of Government at Harvard University and Oxford University. Prof Akande Chair’s the Danforth Plant Life Center Leadership Council, St. Louis, Missouri. He is a member of the USC Marshall School of Business Corporate Advisory Board and currently serves on the non-profit boards of; The MUNY, Forest Park Forever, Saint Louis Art Museum, and Girls Inc. Akande is a Director of Emprise, a St. Louis based manufacturer of health and beauty care products.
